1/14/2023 0 Comments Windows 10 update kb4056892In my view, a Windows installation has an WU shelf-life, which ends when the major version of the Windows release is no longer the latest release. The 'always keep WU turned on / your Windows OS fully updated' line is Microsoft propaganda, not meant to ensure the most stable and safe performance of people's PCs, but to ensure that Microsoft is always able to install whatever new data-collecting adjustments that they want to, whenever they want to. Since the worst that can happen to a PC (that is backed up) is that it requires a full reinstallation, and since a full reinstallation is far more likely (since Nadalla became Microsoft's CEO) to be required from allowing Windows Update to run than it is from any other cause, leaving Windows Update enabled is literally a major risk to a person's PC. Keeping Windows Update enabled has done me no favours in recent years, having caused me to have to reinstall my Windows OS multiple times.ĭisabling Windows Update, on the other hand, has proven the best long-term strategy for me, sparing my PC from multiple issues, including reinstalls. I mean the forums haven't exactly been flooded with these issues and most of those updates installed 2+ days ago. I would like to know how bad this issue actually is. Every now and then I hear a few youtube and some random tech journalists say that, but I have yet to hear it from experts.
